Electoral system needs drastic reforms: Dr Raheeq Abbasi

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that elections, whether to be held sooner or later under the present system, will be a joke with the nation. The outcome of the present electoral system is that the institutions of the country are pitted against each other. Those who consider elections as the solution of the problems the country is caught up in were befooling the people of Pakistan. The handover of authority to another group of privileged elite in the name of elections will be a national crime as it would further compound the problems instead of solving them.

MQI's Workers Convention 2012

The annual 8th Workers Convention of Minhaj-ul-Quran International was held around the world on April 8, 2012. The main ceremony was hosted by the Lahore chapter of MQI at the central secretariat in Lahore. In addition to the main ceremony, hundreds of other conventions were held in different cities around the world including 222 cities of Pakistan where the participants attended the proceedings through Minhaj TV. Sister Ghazala Hassan Qadri explained that the importance of the love of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) equalling it that of a spirit in our body. The same way the spirit of the body of Deen is Love of The Holy Prophet (S.A.W). We are called dead body (a mayyat) when the spirit is taken away from our body. In the same way all the Amaal (actions) are to be considered dead if they are without the spirit of love and respect of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). And all the deeds (amaal) will not be beneficial at all.

Shaykh-ul-Islam threw light on the status and spiritual excellence of the Friends of Allah with the help of references from the Holy Quran and Hadith. He said that some people thought that according to the Holy Quran, “Only the pious were the Friends of Allah”. The people have misconstrued the meaning of this verse of the Holy Quran, believing that every pious person was the friend of Allah and those called ‘Aula-e-Allah’ were not the special people.
