Former Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that Pakistan is among the top countries impacted by climate change and global warming. He said that one of the ways to deal with the climate threat is to focus on plantation as a top priority.

Chaudhry Sarwar made these remarks while speaking at the launching ceremony of tree plantation held under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran Youth League. He said that the youths trained by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri have started the initiative of celebrating Independence Day by planting trees, adding that it is a noble gesture and they deserve to be felicitated for it.

Accompanied by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Dr. Imran Masood, Babar Butt and Rana Waheed Shahzad, Chaudhry Sarwar launched the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in the park in front of the central secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that thanks to focus on plantation, Malaysia became one of the largest palm oil exporting countries in the world.
MYL President Rana Waheed Shahzad said that they wrote letters to deputy commissioners in the districts offering them to help with the plantation through the vast network of the League in the country.

Former Education Minister Dr. Imran Masood said that Pakistan’s bright future is linked to its ability to deal with climate threat, which is possible if we plant as many trees as possible.

Speaking to the journalists, Chaudhry Sarwar hoped that the caretaker government would provide relief to the inflation-stricken people. He said that the last five years were the worst as the lives of the people became miserable due to skyrocketing increases in the prices. He said he was not sure when the elections would be held, adding that such confusion does not exist in any other country.

Chaudhry Sarwar said that the country should be run according to the Constitution. He said that businesses cannot grow at a 22% interest rate. He emphasized the need for upholding merit as a necessary condition for development.

Raja Zahid Mahmood, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry, Asif Sulehria Advocate, Imran Younis, Sardar Umer Daraz, Shahzad Rasool, Haji Ishaq and others were present on the occasion.
