Knowledge, the only cure of our ills: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that restlessness, anxiety and discontentment permeate our society because we have given up tooking into ourselves and self-accountability both individually and collectively. Finding fault with others has become our national trait as a result of which tolerance, harmony, mutual respect have become extinct from society. Materialism has paved the way for rat race and ambition for luxurious life. That makes us violate our mutual rights with no feeling of remorse over our actions.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking to scholars of the Direcorator of Dawa, MQI, telephonically from London. Nazim-e-Ala Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi and Rana Muhammad Idrees were also present on the occasion. Shaykh-ul-Islam said that it was necessary for a positive change in society that the Muslims started self-introspection with a reformative mindset to make mid-course corrections. ‘Since our hearts are plagued and controlled by ill-commanding selves, we commit evil actions,” he added. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the scholars of MQI are playing their due role for bringing about positive change in society through their lectures on the Holy Quran throughout the country. He said that Minhaj-ul-Quran International is a reformative organization. Therefore heavy responsibility rests on the shoulders of these scholars to play proactive role in remedying the collective and individual disorder. ‘For this to be possible every one of you would have to become paragon of piety and good,’ Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri stressed. He also instructed the scholars to focus their special attention on getting knowledge, for it is through perseverance in seeking knowledge by burning midnight oil that culture of knowledge can be created and diversified challenges faced head-on.
