Karachi has become a killing field: PAT

The worst ever bloodshed Pakistan’s financial lifeline, Karachi, has been exposed to over the last few days has revealed the incompetence of the government. By all intents and purposes, Karachi has become a fertile killing field. It appears that the writ of the government has disappeared from the city, which is so crucial to the country in terms of its contribution to the national economy.

These views were expressed by Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, president of Pakistan Awami Tehreek while talking to a delegation of the party which called on him in his office yesterday.

Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani said that Karachi is a mini-Pakistan as it represents all ethnicities. He said that people belonging to all parts of the country have been peacefully and harmoniously living in the provincial capital of Sindh for decades. He said that Karachi was known as ‘city of lights’ and was a rival to the great cities of the world in terms of its development etc. However, the enemies of Pakistan, he said, hatched conspiracies and the city has been bleeding ever since.

Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani deplored the fact that the successive governments did not take serious steps to tackle the law and order problem in the city. They were just content with cosmetic actions meant to play to the gallery. He warned that any dilly-dallying on the part of the government would further complicate the situation plunging Karachi into more darkness. He demanded that fair investigations into the incidents of violence and mayhem be carried out and severe punishments given to those found involved.
