Minhaj-ul-Quran International, South Africa
South Africa is an important country of the African continent. The work of MQI mission was started with the first organizational visit of Shaykh-ul-Islam in 1993. The work of mission is being done very successfully in the famous South African cities namely Durbin and Johannesburg. During the visit of Shaykh-ul-Islam, a gruesome incident took place when an assassination bid was made on Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri while he was delivering speech. But what a miracle that some of those firing at him came in the midst to save Dr Qadri and thus Allah Almighty saved Shaykh-ul-Islam. A world-renowned scholar and much respected figure Sheikh Ahmad Deedat was also present in the gathering listening to the lecture of Shaykh-ul-Islam.
He left for South African tour in June 1994. He was given a red carpet welcome on his arrival in Johannesburg by the workers of MQI and Jamat Ahlay-e-Sunnat. They held a reception in the honour of Shaykh-ul-Islam in which South African Prime Minister participated as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, Shaykh-ul-Islam and the South African Prime Minister exchanged flags with each other. The African print and electronic media gave full coverage to this visit of Shaykh-ul-Islam. Thus the message of the Minhaj-ul-Quran reached the whole of Africa. Later on, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri delivered a lecture in English on the topic of "Comparison between Islamic and Western Laws". He also visited the centre of Sheikh Ahmad Deedat at his special invitation and held a meeting with him. Hassan Mir Qadri, Qari Ghulam Rasul and Qari Muhammad Rafiqe have rendered excellent services in South Africa.
