Justice, honesty & social welfare pillars of Islamic system of trade: Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
A conference on the subject of “Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) As a Role Model for the Business World” was held under the joint banner of Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman Memorial Society and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan) on March 15 in Lahore. Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI and Deputy Chairman of Board of Governors of Minhaj University, participated in the conference and delivered a speech there. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the conference, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the blessed life of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is a source of eternal guidance and a point of reference for people belonging to every walk of life. He said that it is by acting upon the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunna of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we can win the pleasure of Allah Almighty and become good Muslims. He said that justice and fair play, honesty and truthfulness and social welfare are three pillars on which the teachings of the Holy Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) system of trade and commerce are erected.
Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that wherever Islam talks about other religions, this is not just limited to religions in the strictest sense of the word. Rather it also entails a mention of different socio-economic systems such as capitalism and socialism with the direction that Islamic system should be made dominant among an array of systems. He however clarified that domination is not marked by any forceful and coercive action but a practical implementation of the Islamic system of economics, justice, politics and statecraft at every level. He said that as traders, we will have to incorporate the business ethics advocated by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in our business dealings. He said that our salvation and comfort lies in adopting all the Islamic systems which are superior to others in every way.
The MQI President that the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are a guarantee of success in the world. He said that irrespective of the profession we may belong to whether we are doctors, engineers, traders, civil servants, religious scholars or politicians, the teachings of our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) promise us eternal success and excellence in our professions. That is how we may implement these teachings in the operations of different fields in an effort to establish the domination of the religion, adding that therein lies the secret to success.
Concluding his address, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that if we want to render a service to Islam, we should adopt the various systems of Islam in such a manner in our individual and collective life that we become a role model for others who may be tempted to follow our conduct.
