Itikaf City: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri highlights primacy of religion in scientific discoveries
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed thousands of male and female retreat participants in the third session of Itiakf City (spiritual retreat) on the topic of "Why Believe in God? And Why Embrace Religion?"
During his address, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that in 1875, it was discovered that mountains are as much beneath the earth as they are above it, a piece of knowledge that scientists brought to the world 150 years ago. However, Islam had provided this information to humanity through the Holy Quran 1,400 years ago. He said that for over 14 centuries, the Quran has contained all scientific facts that are now being discovered by scientific research. He emphasized that people do not want to read and understand the Quran's verses; they seek guidance from those who themselves are misguided.
“These are the same questions that science and humanity have only recently found answers to, but the Quran had explicitly mentioned them over 14 centuries ago,” he added.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that those who seek the truth are the first to approach the place where it can be found. They contemplate and ponder, and with reflection and deliberation, they find the truth. He said that Allah Almighty gave humanity the concept of the universe's expansion through the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) when the world was shrouded in ignorance in the Arab world, while science is now informing people of these matters 1450 years later.
He asked, "What is the sign of a lover?" A lover is one who never forgets their beloved in any situation.
“Prayer is a meeting with the true beloved. If negligence is shown in obligatory prayer, it holds no significance compared to any other task or event,” he concluded.
