Protecting the character and morals of youth is a major challenge: Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
PTA's role in preventing unethical websites is commendable
Social media is both a source of knowledge and the biggest fitnah of our time
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, stated that Amr bil Maroof wa Nahi an al-Munkar (enjoining good and forbidding evil) is a fundamental duty in Islam and a pressing need of our time. Access to sin has become easy, while the space for righteousness has become limited. Social media is both a medium for knowledge and awareness and the greatest moral test of our era. Protecting the morals and character of young people is a significant challenge.
Before his organizational tour abroad, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri addressed scholars and stated that fulfilling the duty to prevent evil is a form of jihad. He commended the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for blocking millions of unethical websites and making access to them more difficult, saying this is the rightful role of a state institution. Other institutions should also fulfill their religious, moral, and legal responsibilities in eradicating evil.
Dr. Hassan Qadri highlighted that scholars have a greater responsibility than any other segment of society to work for social reform and to prevent evil. He urged people to follow the command of Allah and His Messenger (PBUH) to avoid indecency and immorality. He advised the youth to protect their eyes, ears, tongue, hands, and feet, as these are the pathways to good and evil.
The Chairman Supreme Council further suggested that youth be provided guidelines about unethical websites, pages, and other tools. Parents should also keep an eye on their children’s use of mobile phones, laptops, and computers. He remarked that enemies are using immoral content and websites as weapons. Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri instructed Minhaj-ul-Quran's social media activists to play a role in protecting the morals and character of youth through their work on social media.
