Social media’s negative use is poisoning the lives of youth: Allama Rana Idrees
Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees, Deputy Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has stated that the negative use of social media is poisoning the faith-based lives of the youth of the Ummah. He urged parents, teachers, and scholars to promote awareness of the positive use of social media to protect the youth from intellectual and ideological challenges.
"We must defend ourselves in the same field from where attacks are being launched," he said during his address to the Friday congregation at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam, Model Town.
Allama Idrees advised the youth not to blindly trust religious information that goes viral without verification and to seek knowledge of Islam from authentic scholars. He warned that the enemies of Islam are subtly distorting the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings and spreading misguidance. He noted that the advent of social media has exacerbated sectarian divisions, making effective responses imperative.
Allama Idrees highlighted that MQI is tirelessly working to safeguard the faith and character of the Muslim youth. He praised Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for providing well-reasoned guidance on social media, urging the youth to listen to and follow him.
"He possesses deep insights into both Eastern and Western contexts," he said.
He further mentioned that Minhaj-ul-Quran’s educational institutions, established domestically and internationally, are educating thousands of students in both religious and contemporary knowledge. "Minhaj-ul-Quran is addressing challenges and conflicts through the power of knowledge," he concluded.
