Appeal for donation of Zakat

One of the basic pillars of Islam, Zakat forms the core of our socio-economic system. Bringing the affluent and the deprived closer through care, concern and assistance by the former for the latter, it knits society into a strong and coherent whole. The love and sympathy shown to the poor and the indigent by way of Zakat donations build up trust among classes of society, cement them together and make them progress towards peace and harmony with firm resolve. It is for this reason Islam enjoins to pay Zakat to the poor and the needy as an obligation and declares it essential for prosperity, social health and spiritual uplift. Allah Almighty and His Beloved Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) clearly command to remove the financial disparities in society through Zakat. The amount paid as Zakat out of the lawfully earned wealth not only brings ten-time greater profit, but also purifies our souls and capital at the same time. It is, no doubt, a great source of bliss and blessings.

The Minhaj Welfare Foundation is diligently engaged in welfare projects. It is striving as a leading organization in rehabilitating the victims of disasters, relieving the poverty-stricken people of agonies and miseries, providing clean water in distant areas and building their confidence in life afresh the world over. In addition, it has targeted illiteracy at vast scale and is running 573 schools and 41 colleges, imparting quality education to over 118 thousand students of middle, lower middle and the deprived classes, most of them getting free education in these institutions.

One of the major areas of its operation is providing free treatment to the patients. The ailing people benefit in thousands in 107 Free Dispensaries and hospitals, whilst welfare ambulance service has also been provided in 25 major cities across the country.

Every year, the MWF also organizes congregational marriages of the orphan and the helpless girls of the poor and the downtrodden families, while the financial aid and the material assistance extended to the victims of natural calamities remains an exceptional activity of the organization.

A mega project administered by Minhaj Welfare Foundation is the orphan care house known as Aghosh. The construction work of its five-storey beautiful building in Township Lahore started in November, 2008 on the most modern lines. It has been designed to house not less than 500 orphans and helpless children. The three floors of the building have been completed whereas two floors have yet to be constructed. This huge welfare project entails a large scale financial assistance and fund raising for its timely completion. The Minhaj Welfare Foundation is looking forward to the affluent and benevolent elite to move forward in a big way, enabling the MWF to provide for the orphans and the helpless children.

Islam lays great emphasis on bringing up orphans befittingly and providing them guardianship. The Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) says:

“I and helper of the orphans will be together on the Day of Judgment, (and whilst saying this, he raised his two holy fingers together to show the nearness).”

We feel sure while making this appeal that the trust we repose in you will be reciprocated commensurately. So we call to come on and attain to the nearness of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace be upon him) on the Last Day by contributing your Zakat and Charity Donations benevolently for the magnificent MWF project Aghosh. Allah Almighty will certainly deliver you with His Mercy and Kindness benevolently, on the Day of Reckoning.
