Pakistan and Afghanistan Earthquake: Emergency Appeal

A major earthquake has hit Afghanistan, Northern Pakistan and parts of India, with more than 100 killed and early reports suggesting it has caused extensive damage in mountainous areas.

The magnitude 8.1 quake was centred in the province of Badakhshan in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan’s far north, and occurred at a depth of 130 miles (210km).

Minhaj Welfare Foundation has launched an Emergency Appeal to help those affected by the earthquake. We are appealing for donations to assist in emergency relief; by providing temporary shelter, food and water and medical care to thousands of people affected.

Minhaj Welfare Foundation has been working in emergency disaster situations in Pakistan since 1989, below are a number of responses from the MWF team in Pakistan. MWF helps in both short term and long term assistance (we have built more than 600 schools and providing education for more than 145,000 students in Pakistan).
