The Charter of Medina gave world the concept of peaceful coexistence Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has said that the state of Medina provided the world an ideal governance and administrative model of interfaith tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that as the constitutional and administrative head of the state of Medina, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) introduced the concept of separate nationhood and political unity. The state of Medina, he said, was based on the universal principles of unity, interfaith tolerance, protection of life and property and peaceful coexistence.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri made remarks while addressing a seminar on the subject of administrative review of the State of Medina at the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that for the first time in the history, the concept of collective economic sponsorship was established in the state of Medina and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) gave humanity the message that no society can survive for long on the basis of hatred, violence and bigotry.

He said that the characteristics of unity and tolerance are indispensable for a model state. “The Charter of Medina not only provided political and economic stability to the state but all the sections of the society also adopted the principle of peaceful coexistence,” he added.

Chairman MQI Supreme Council said that the first lesson of this model of the State of Medina is that the principles such as the political unity, mutual respect and self-sacrifice are essential for the stability of a state. Where there is intolerance, there will be mischief and not peace, he held.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the universal principles of the Charter of Medina fostered political unity and established peace in the war-torn Arab peninsula, while the Muslims and non-Muslim minorities were guaranteed the protection of life and property as well as the practice of religious rights.

Dr Hassan told the audience that an effective home department was established, a consultation process was introduced to conduct state affairs, while a mechanism of diplomacy was initiated for communication with the outside world for the first time in history. He said that the rules and regulations were laid down for the rulers and officials of the state and a transparent accountability system was put in place along with the initial form of a police system.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri further said that the model of the state of Medina carried all features of a humane, functional and effective governance, adding that this model is capable of meeting the requirements of a strong and prosperous state even today.

The conference was attended by Quaid-e-Azam University VC Dr Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, Employees Welfare Association, Chand Sitara Group president Malik Mohammad Siddique, heads of departments, Deans, professors and a large number of students.
