Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri Delivers Concluding Address at ICALLT 2025

In the concluding session of the 1st International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Language Technologies (ICALLT 2025), Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman, Board of Governors, Minhaj University Lahore, appreciated all distinguished guests, keynote speakers, paper presenters, panelists, faculty members, organizers, and administrative teams for the successful hosting of the conference at Minhaj University Lahore.

Speaking on the theme “Connecting the Present with the Past,” Prof. Dr. Hussain highlighted the deep intellectual continuity between modern corpus linguistics, AI-driven digital tools, and the classical Islamic tradition of Hashiya. He explained that contemporary practices such as digital annotation, corpus mapping, and computational analysis represent a technological extension of centuries-old methods of Islamic textual engagement rather than a departure from them.

He emphasised that Islamic manuscripts were historically designed as interactive scholarly spaces, where commentary and marginalia enabled critical debate, precision, and preservation of knowledge. In the modern context, digital corpora continue this legacy by transforming marginal notes into searchable, multi-layered data systems that enhance linguistic, grammatical, and semantic analysis.

Prof. Dr. Hussain Qadri also highlighted the role of Minhaj University Lahore and Minhaj-ul-Quran International in preserving and advancing this scholarly tradition. He announced that Minhaj University Lahore will introduce Corpus Research and AI-based courses across all language degree programs, ensuring that students acquire both strong classical academic grounding and cutting-edge computational skills. He stressed that this fusion of traditional knowledge and modern technology is essential for preparing globally competitive scholars.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Hussain Qadri prayed for the success of all contributors and reaffirmed Minhaj University Lahore’s commitment to fostering research that strengthens both national academic development and Islamic intellectual heritage.
