Anti-terrorism court not fulfilling requirements of justice: PAT Lawyers Wing
A meeting of Awami Lawyers Wing took place today at the central secretariat of PAT under the leadership of Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry.
Addressing the meeting, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry said that more than one and half year has passed since the Model Town tragedy took place but justice has not been provided to the heirs of martyrs. He said that anti-terrorism court is not fulfilling the constitutional requirements in the Model Town case. He said that in the FIR lodged by the PAT, police has made the PAT workers accused. He said that the PAT workers have not been given all those documents which are given to the accused before the indictment. He said that all this is against the basic principles of justice.
The meeting was attended by MH Shaheed Advocate, Mushtaq Nonari Advocate, Sardar Ghazanfar advocate, Asif Sulahria Advocate, Ishtiaq Chaudhry Advocate, Mahmood Chaudhry Advocate, and Anzar Rasool Advocate.
Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry said that two separate FIR were registered in the Model Town case and two different challans were presented but indictment cannot be imposed separately in both cases because one accused cannot be given punishment twice in the same case. He said that if the accused are punished on both challans, it will be punishment in the same case, which is against law and the Constitution.
