PAT to host APC on Model Town tragedy on March 28

Pakistan Awami Tehreek is going to host an All-Parties Conference on March 28 on the Model Town tragedy and increasing corruption of the rulers. A committee led by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has been constituted to invite all political parties except the PML-N.

A meeting in this regard was held at the central secretariat yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that contacts have been established with PTI, PPP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Functional League, MQM, Sunni Ittehad Council, and Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen and they have expressed their willingness to attend the APC. He said that contacts are being made with other political parties as well.

The PAT Secretary General said that corruption and oppression has exceeded so much that it has become difficult for the common people to make their both ends meet. He said that the Model Town tragedy is the worst example of state terrorism. He said that national kitty is being looted with both hands and those doing so have the gall to threaten NAB.

The meeting was attended by provincial presidents Fayyaz Warriach, Basharat Jaspal, and Brig (r ) Mushtaq, Noorulah Saddiqi, and Sajid Bhatti.

Addressing the meeting, Basharat Jaspal said that the country is being undermined due to corruption and injustice day by day. He said that the rulers have broken all past records of taking foreign loans. He said that the role of the rulers has glaringly appeared in the 150 mega corruption scandals such as payment of circular debt, orange train project, and sale of euro bonds, adding that it is now time that other political parties also play their role to save the country from menace of corruption.

Fayyaz Warriach said that the rulers who refused to conduct national census cannot throw dust in the eyes of people through poverty surveys. He said that no survey carries any importance unless true facts and figures about population are known.

Brig (r ) Mushtaq said on the occasion that the rulers are not giving funds to the newly elected local government institutions due to vested interests. He said that if the political forces did not play their role, the circumstances can go worse.

The meeting expressed its deep grief on the loss of precious lives in the thunderstorm and rains in the country and demanded that relief and rehabilitation of the affectees should be given top priority. Fateha khawani was held for the departed souls.
