Perpetual clash between truth & falsehood is message of Karbala: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
Founding leader of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that Imam Hussain (RA) achieved immortality despite his martyrdom while Yazid elicited eternal condemnation despite retaining his throne. ‘Hussainiyat is a symbol of truth whereas ‘Yazadiat’ that of mischief and discord. He said that the Muslim world can never thank the family members of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) enough for their sacrifices till the Day of Judgment. He said that among the most favorite of His people are the martyrs. He urged the Muslims in general and the people of Pakistan in particular to beware of the mischievous activities of the anti-Islam forces.
In a statement issued here marking the beginning of the holy month of Muharram, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is a glorious chapter in the book of Sira-tun-Nabi (pbuh). He said that despite passage of more than thirteen centuries, Imam Hussain (RA) continues to be eulogized and spoken and written about owing to the loftiness of his sacrifice, strength of character and advocacy of justice and truth even at the cost of his life. He said that the Incident of Karbala gave birth to two attitudes, representing a perpetual fight between the forces of truth and falsehood.
Dr Qadri said that martyrdom is among the most blessed blessings of Allah Almighty and He included the martyrs among His beloved people. He said that the supreme sacrifices rendered by the Prophet’s family (pbuh) will continue to be remembered till the Day of Reckoning. He said that the revered personalities of the Holy Prophet’s (pbuh) family drew a line between truth and falsehood till all times to come. He emphasized that there is a dire need to understand and internlise the philosophy of Muharram.
The MQI leader said that two philosophies and thoughts seem to be clashing in the incident of Karbala. On the one hand was the philosophy advocated by Yazid who considered power to be his right, whereas there was Imam Hussain’s thought and philosophy on the other who considered truth as power. He said that the great Imam (RA) highlighted the importance of both clashing ideologies by giving the supreme sacrifice of his life and that of his companions. He proved that Yazid stood condemned and humiliated till the Day of Judgment despite retaining his power and position, whereas those who chose to sacrifice themselves for the sake of truth would continue to be remembered till the end of the world.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri quoted a Hadith wherein the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said: ‘Hussain (RA) is from me and I am from Hussain (RA).’ He said that the meaning of this Hadith has been well understood by the humanity today: It is due to the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) that the Quranic teachings and Sunna are present in their original shape.
Dr Qadri said that Imam Hussain (RA) does not belong to any one community. Rather he is the most treasured asset of the whole humanity. He asked the people of Pakistan to be on their guard with reference to mischievous activities of the sectarian forces inimical to Islam and Pakistan.
