Christmas Celebrations at Minhaj University Lahore

A Christmas cake was cut under the School of Religions and Philosophy of the Minhaj University Lahore and felicitations were conveyed to the Christian brothers and sisters.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman of BoG, said that one cannot understand the religious beliefs of each other merely by reading books. He said that Minhaj University set up School of Religions and Philosophy to build bridges and provide an academic basis of multi-faith studies, stating that it is unique distinction of the MUL only.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri congratulated the members of the Christian community inside and outside of Pakistan on the happy occasion of Christmas. He said that Hazrat Issa (A.S) is the prophet of Allah and his teachings are based on love and peace. He said that the followers of all religions are equal in the eyes of law and enjoy equal measure of freedom to practise their religion without any discrimination of caste, creed and colour, stating that they are contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that it is yet another distinction of the MUL that it is busy in promoting interfaith harmony and dialogue in addition to imparting education in contemporary sciences. He said that promotion of love and elimination of hatred is the mission of PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.

The students, teachers and staff of the MUL including Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Soroya, Dr Harman, Dr Zahoor Rizvi, Col. (r) Mubashir Iqbal, Shahzad Rasool Qadri, Noorullah Siddiqi, Dr Naeem Mushtaq, Dr Nadir Bakht, Madam Samreen, Dr Robina. The students also presented a tableau that attracted the attention of the audience.

Dr Aslam Ghauri congratulated the Christian male and female students on Christmas. He said that MUL provides the facilities of the quality education to all students without any discrimination of caste, creed and color.

Dr. Herman Roborgh said on the occasion that School of Religions and Philosophy teaches respect of all religions. He said that there is a need to promote the culture of respect for religious and the holy personages and foster the attitude of tolerance.

Dr Naeem Mushtaq stated that the MQI is promoting the culture of interfaith harmony in practical terms by bringing all on the shared agenda. He said that there is a further need to strengthen and support this thinking.
