Food of worth Rs. 80 million distributed among the deserving so far: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
Secretary General MQI Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that foodstuff of worth 80 million rupees has been distributed among the people in different parts of the country under the banner of Minhaj Welfare Foundation during the period of lockdown so far.
Gandapur expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held to distribute ration among 1000 families in the Township area in Lahore. MWF Director Syed Ali Shah said on the occasion that the Foundation's volunteers have distributed the ration among thousands of families since the start of the lockdown. He said that they go from door to door to collect data and give tokens to the deserving families who then can then receive the ration from the central office by showing the token. He said that our first priority is to provide food to those acute in need of it, adding that MWF UK has given its complete support for the Food Support Program.
Minhaj Welfare Foundation Vice-Chancellor MUL Dr Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Noorullah Siddiqui, Jawad Hamid, Shahid Latif Qadri, Khurram Shahzad and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Syed Amjad Ali Shah said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri is monitoring the Food Support Programme of Minhaj Welfare Foundation on a daily basis. He said that the Foundation is running this massive program on a self-help basis and told that cooked food and ration has been distributed among 2 lakh people so far.
Speaking of the occasion Dr Sajid Mahmood Shahzad said that educational institutions and other forms of Minhaj-ul-Quran International are playing their role for the well-being of the people on the directions of Dr Tahir ul Qadri. He said that the community is facing a major problem owing to the lockdown amid Covid-19 scare and stated that feeling the pain of others is the teaching of Islam.
Minhaj University Lahore distributed cooked food among 1000 families in Rawalpindi and Islamabad yesterday.
