Islamic economic system negates concentration of wealth: Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

President MQI Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has said that removing the fear of poverty from the minds and hearts of people is inevitable for the establishment of an exemplary law and order and the formation of a peaceful society and hence the first and foremost responsibility of the state. He said that Sira al-Rasool (pbuh) offers complete guidance to humanity with reference to a just welfare state. He said that Islam introduced, for the first time, the concept of ownership as a sacred trust at the place of absolute ownership. He said the period of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and the rightly guided Caliphs present abundant manifestations of the welfare state and just economic system.

Talking to various delegations, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the Islamic economic system strongly rejects the notion of the concentration of wealth. He said building up mountains of wealth, making profit through illegal means, and hoarding are a cognizable offence in Islam. He said these economic crimes also do not find any space or legitimacy in the modern democratic states. He said that economic evils and inequalities lead to disruption of states and societies, stating that the idea of freedom and slavery is connected with the economy in modern times. He said that the countries' level of freedom and sovereignty is directly proportional to the economic independence and prosperity they enjoy.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that it is the responsibility of the state to remove the hurdles in the way of the establishment of an equitable economy. He said that politics, society, and economy are three fundamental dimensions of national life, stating that the economy holds a pivotal place in the three-dimensional matrix. He said that unless the state provides the basic facilities of education, health, and jobs in a manner that is equitable, a just system can't be established in any walk of life.

President MQI said that if we go through the national history of the last four decades, it becomes certain that the first backlash against the governments is triggered by inflation and dearness that make citizens' life difficult, stating that the aggressive, extremist, and violent attitudes stem from such state of affairs. He said that Islam described this fact 14 centuries ago when it obligated the state to end poverty and provide basic necessities to its citizens without any discrimination.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that if Pakistan's economic direction had been set in the right path, the country would have been prosperous instead of moneyed individuals, and it might not have been bogged down in debt. He said the Islamic economic system is linked to the survival and welfare of humanity and impressed upon the students of economics and practitioners of the discipline to study the books written by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on the subject to develop an understanding of the concept. He said that a deep study of Sira al-Nabi (pbuh) and the golden period of the rightly guided Caliphs is a must to bring the economy on track.
