A delegation of Ulama and scholars rendering services in Scotland (UK) met with Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the religious scholars would have to rise above their sectarian differences to promote the Islamic message of peace, spiritualism and harmony. He said that Islam is a religion of unity and togetherness in the ranks of Muslims. He said that sectarianism has deeply undermined the spirit of unity and interfaith dialogue. He said that every Muslim living in other countries is a proponent and ambassador of Islam.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri asked the religious scholars to become a role model for their co-religionists and followers of other faiths through their conduct and excellent character. He said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the personification of mercy and compassion for all, adding that he (PUBH) was loved and respected due to his perfect character and excellent mannerism. He said that his blessed ‘Uswa’ is a beacon of light for us today. He said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) rejected division and promoted unity, adding that when the message of Islam will be spread in line with the letter and spirit of the Islamic teachings, its results would certainly emerge and the role of Muslim community will expand.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that Islam talks about and promotes collectivity at the place of individualism. It espouses the cause of whole humanity and not a sect or a segment. The splintering of Islam into different sections has wreaked havoc on the body politic of Islam. He said that considering oneself to be the champion of the truth and passing edicts against others has promoted extremism, stating that such extreme behaviours have no place in Islam.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the hopes and aspirations of people are pinned on the religious scholars. He said that being protector of the faith, it is the responsibility of the religious scholars to guide the youth and get them out of the intellectual and moral confusion.

Huzoor Shaykh-ul-Islam was also accompanied by Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri, Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa al-Arabi al-Qadri
