Shaykh-ul-Islam’s message on the start of Muharram

In his special message on the beginning of the holy month of Muharram, MQI founding-leader and patron-in-chief Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri that the holy month imparts lessons of the truth, piety, humanity, sacrifice, equality and tolerance. He said that the dire need of the time is that the real spirit and message of the month should be highlighted, adding that tolerance and inter-sectarian harmony need to be promoted.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the holy month reminds us of the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (Alayhis-salam), the grandson of the Holy Prophet (SAW) for the sake of the truth. He said that the great Imam (Alayhis-salam) gave a message of not surrendering to the forces of falsehood to humanity through his sacrifice. He said that the contest between the forces of truth and falsehood has been there since the beginning of time and will continue to be there till the end. He said that it is our fundamental duty to stand by the truth in every age in whatever capacity we can.

Shaykh-ul-Islam said that the philosophy of Imam Hussain (Alayhis-salam) is that when the rituals and teachings of Islam come under attack, one should resist all such efforts and stand up to oppression. He said that through his martyrdom, Hazrat Imam Hussain (Alayhis-salam) taught humanity about the values of patience, and tolerance. He said staying put for the sake of truth and justice is the Hussaini way of life.
