Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s book to be launched on January 26

The launching ceremony of Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s magnum opus titled “The Constitution of Medina & The Concept of the Welfare State” will be held at Aiwan-i-Iqbal at 6 pm (PST) on January 26, 2024. The book has simultaneously been published in Urdu, English and Arabic languages. Consisting of 1400 pages, it is the first analytical research work of its kind.

The ceremony will be addressed by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, retired judges, renowned lawyers, religious scholars and thought leaders. The galaxy of speakers includes Dr Qibla Ayaz, Chairman of Islamic Ideology Council, Justice Syed Anwar Shah, Justice (r ) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Justice (r ) Azmat Saeed Sheikh, Hamid Khan Advocate, Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Orya Maqbool Jan, Justice (r ) Nazir Ghazi, Justice (r ) Fakir Khokhar, Dr Munawwara Sultana Mirza, Mian Anjum Nisar, Prof Hamayun Ehsan Advocate, Ishtiaq A. Khan Advocate, Dr Fatima Sajjad and other speakers. Prof Dr M. Ishaq Bhatti, University of Brunei Dar-us-Salam, Prof Dr Rousini Hassan, Islamic University Malaysia, and other scholarly personalities will also share their views on the occasion.

It is important to mention that it is the first voluminous and comprehensive book written on the Constitution of Medina. One of the highlights of the book is that Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has carried out a comparative but thoughtful study of the Constitution of Medina with the contemporary constitutions of the United States, and Britain in his research work.

Another distinguishing feature of the book is that the research and analytical material used in the book has been authenticated and endorsed in terms of its research quality by none other than the professors of Islamic world’s famed Al-Azhar University.

Important subjects such as the principles of governance, political system of Islam, human rights, protection of life, property and dignity, women rights, freedom of expression and state powers have been debated academically in light of the Constitution of Medina. Additionally, the contentions of the critics have also been addressed with the scholarly arguments. The book also presents an analytical view of the history of international constitutions.
