The tragedy of Karbala is an instructive event in Islamic history: Dr. Hassan Qadri

Dr Hassan Qadri Message on Muharram 2024

Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has stated that the tragedy of Karbala is a mournful and instructive event in Islamic history. The family of the Prophet (PBUH) sacrificed their lives to teach humanity that till the Day of Judgment, people should accept martyrdom, lose their homes, and even sacrifice their loved ones, but never fear or reconcile with tyrants, oppressors, enemies of truth, and immoral rulers blinded by the lust for power.

“The oppression faced by the family of the Prophet (PBUH) in Karbala is unmatched in world history,” he said.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri mentioned that the Holy Quran extensively details the sacrifices, trials, and tribulations of the prophets of God. The Quran advises that such events should be repeatedly read and heard so that they may change the conditions of the hearts and minds of people, helping them learn lessons and distinguish between truth and falsehood, and right and wrong. He said that repeatedly recounting the incident of Karbala is essential for the stability and perseverance of faith.

He said that the cursed Yazid knew that Imam Hussain (RA), who was raised under the shadow of prophethood, would never accept his tyrannical, oppressive, and monarchical rule, and thus had instructed his armies to show no leniency. By accepting martyrdom, Imam Hussain (RA) upheld the religion of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and exposed the tyranny of Yazid for all time.
