Governor Punjab attended prayer ceremony by Minhaj Interfaith Relations

Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, attended a prayer ceremony organized by Minhaj-ul-Quran Interfaith Relations at the central secretariat on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH) and the founding father of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Sohail Ahmad Raza, Shehzad Khan, and other leaders.

Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of Minhaj-ul-Quran Interfaith Relations, welcomed the participants, stating that Minhaj-ul-Quran International is the only platform where all religions and schools of thought have the freedom to express their views. He emphasized that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has practically demonstrated the protection of the fundamental rights guaranteed to religious minorities by the Constitution of Pakistan.

In his speech, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan praised Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri for his significant efforts in promoting interfaith harmony and unity among the Muslim Ummah. He highlighted that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was a life member of Minhaj-ul-Quran, which created a special bond of affection with the organization. He expressed his delight at witnessing representatives of all religions and sects gathered under one roof, calling it a commendable national service.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary-General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, stressed that sectarianism is the biggest obstacle to national unity and Pakistan's development. He reiterated the organization's dedication to fostering peace and brotherhood.

Reverend Dr. Majeed Abel shared that Minhaj-ul-Quran makes them feel safe and respected, acknowledging Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri's consistent respect for all communities.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, a cake was cut, and prayers were offered for the country's prosperity.

Later, Governor Punjab visited Farid-e-Millat Research Institute, Asia's largest research cell, where Dr. Muhammad Farooq Rana, Director of Research, briefed him about Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri's authored works and a reference library containing over 35,000 books. He also toured the Sheikh-ul-Islam Mosque, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture.

The ceremony included speeches from notable religious leaders, including Bishop of Lahore Nadim Kamran, former Bishop of Lahore Irfan Jamil, Reverend Majeed Abel, Reverend Robin Qamar, Bishop Akbar Khokhar, Catholic Church Father Pascal Paulos, Pastor Hezekiel, Sardar Bishan Singh, Sardar Zarwar Singh, Pandit Kashi Ram, Dr. Sarwa Bhuvnaaz, Sardar Sikandar Singh, Bahá'í Faith’s Dr. Fareeba, Allama Makhdoom Asim, Allama Asghar Arif Chishti, Allama Abdul Mustafa Chishti, Dr. Badr Munir Saifi, Allama Qasim Ali Qasmi, and Allama Zubair Abid.

Prominent attendees included Brigadier (R) Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Brigadier (R) Umar Hayat, G.M. Malik, Noorullah Siddiqui, Dr. Mir Asif Akbar, Shehzad Rasool, Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi, Haji Muhammad Ishaq Abdul Hafeez Chaudhry, Aurangzeb Khan, Shehzad Khan, and Tayyab Zia.
