Youth Should Pursue Both Traditional and Modern Knowledge: Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri
Acquiring knowledge is a means of material progress for other nations, but it is an obligation for the Muslim Ummah.
Addresses an intellectual session with students of the College of Shariah and Minhaj College for Women
Shaykh-ul-Islam Professor Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, addressed a special intellectual session on the importance and virtue of knowledge with students and teachers of the College of Shariah & Islamic Sciences and Minhaj College for Women.
He emphasized that youth should acquire modern sciences along with traditional knowledge. While acquiring knowledge is a means of material progress for other nations, it is a religious obligation for every individual in the Muslim Ummah. He reminded that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as a teacher, and true knowledge is that which cultivates awareness of rights and responsibilities, distinguishes between halal and haram, promotes peace, and instills love for humanity. Information alone is not beneficial unless it translates into practical wisdom.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri highlighted that Islam declares all human beings equal and does not allow discrimination. However, a learned person is given preference over an ignorant one due to the value of knowledge.
He advised students to dedicate every moment of their academic life to the pursuit of knowledge and follow these five essential principles:
- Ask questions to seek knowledge.
- Listen attentively to lectures in class.
- Retain and memorize acquired knowledge.
- Apply the knowledge in practical life.
- Share knowledge with others.
He assured that staying connected with all these aspects of knowledge will not only enhance learning but also bring immense blessings.
