Dr. Hassan Qadri addressing World Interfaith Conference by UN 2025

Chairman of Minhaj-ul-Quran International’s Supreme Council, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, delivered a keynote address at the Global Interfaith Harmony Conference held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. He emphasized that the Charter of Medina and the administrative model of the State of Medina remain exemplary frameworks for modern mul-tireligious and multicultural societies.

He stated that mutual respect for values and traditions is essential for global peace. He said that as the head of the State of Medina, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) set a remarkable example of interfaith tolerance. Agreements were not only made with representatives of various religions and tribes, but they were also guaranteed full protection of life, property, and religious values.

Even today, the Charter of Medina provides valuable moral lessons, he maintained.

Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri highlighted that the warm reception of the Christian delegation from Najran in Medina and the agreement with Saint Catherine’s Monastery are outstanding examples of the Prophet’s (PBUH) tolerance. The Prophet (PBUH) would stand in respect for non-Muslims, demonstrating that Islam has no connection with hatred, extremism, or intolerance.

The conference was attended by internationally renowned human rights representatives, educational figures, and prominent leaders from various fields. Notable participants included Mr. Peter Haider, President of the Universal Peace Federation, H.E. Mohammad Sameer Saleem Hindawi, Ambassador of Jordan, Plain Alexander Rieger, Head of the Interfaith Dialogue Forum, and Ms. Caroline Hungerländer, MD of the Institute for Environment, Peace, and Development.

They praised Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s speech on interfaith harmony from the perspective of Islamic teachings.

As a gesture of goodwill, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri presented the conference participants with his research book, "The Charter of Medina and the Concept of a Welfare State," for further study.

This book has been published in Urdu, English, and Arabic translations.
