Fasting cultivates patience & endurance: Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri
Fasting is the Best Act of Worship and a Source of Physical and Spiritual
Blessings: President Minhaj-ul-Quran International
President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has stated that fasting instills the qualities of patience and endurance. He said that fasting is the best form of worship and a means of attaining both physical and spiritual blessings.
"By overcoming hunger and thirst, a person learns to control their desires. Through this patience, one becomes stronger in dealing with life's challenges and faces difficulties with courage and perseverance. Fasting purifies the soul and inner self from all forms of impurities and negativity. It guides a person on the path of piety and righteousness," he said while explaining the essence of fasting.
Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the Holy Quran states:
"O you who believe! Fasting has been prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may become righteous."
This verse, he said, clarifies the true purpose of fasting, which is to instill the fear of Allah in the heart and create a yearning for righteousness.
The MQI President expressed these views while addressing a training session held at the central secretariat. He stated that a fasting person experiences the intensity of hunger and thirst, making them aware of the struggles faced by the poor and underprivileged who endure such hardships daily. This awareness cultivates a spirit of sacrifice, compassion, and the desire to help others.
He further stated that through the passion for serving the suffering and needy humanity, a welfare society emerges—one founded on everlasting values of mutual love, kindness, humanitarianism, and empathy. He elucidated that fasting is a complete practical example of sacrifice and altruism, teaching us to live for others, control our desires, and make sacrifices for the pleasure of Allah.
Fasting is a sacred act that purifies the heart and mind, elevates the soul, and helps a person become a better human being, he concluded.
