The Battle of Badr Defeated Tyranny and Arrogance: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri
The founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, in his address on the occasion of the 17th of Ramadan, reflecting on the Battle of Badr, stated that this battle marked the defeat of tyranny and arrogance.
He said that the Battle of Badr was the first major conflict between Islam and disbelief, in which Allah granted victory to the believers. The Holy Prophet ﷺ referred to Badr as a decisive battle, and the Quran honored it by calling it "Yawm al-Furqan" (The Day of Distinction), thus confirming its significance.
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri emphasized that the key message of this historic battle is that divine support and assistance come to those who remain steadfast on the path of truth. The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ displayed unmatched commitment in the Battle of Badr, dedicating their lives and wealth for the sake of righteousness and setting an extraordinary example of obedience to the Prophet ﷺ.
Dr. Qadri further explained that Badr became a turning point for the internal and external consolidation of the State of Madinah. It was a decisive moment that reshaped Islamic history. He said that Muslims not only achieved military victory over the disbelievers but also gained psychological superiority, which further strengthened their cultural and civilizational standing. Following the victory at Badr, the Islamic state reaped immense economic, military, and political benefits, paving the way for the establishment of a new Muslim society. He declared that Yawm Badr (the Day of Badr) is a day of triumph for the believers.
Meanwhile, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri also spoke on the anniversary of Umm al-Mu’minin (Mother of the Believers) Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (RA), highlighting her scholarly excellence and noble character. He stated that she was a paragon of knowledge, piety, asceticism, and wisdom. More than 1,400 years ago, Sayyidah Aisha (RA) played an unparalleled role in the dissemination of knowledge and wisdom, a legacy that remains a source of inspiration and pride for women even today.
