Dr. Hussain Qadri Congratulated on Receiving the “Sign of Peace Award”

President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri addressed the prize distribution ceremony at Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran, Minhaj University Lahore. He said that purification of the soul (Tazkiyah al-Nafs) is the foundation of human success and well-being. He advised students to continuously strive to keep their hearts and minds free from sins, greed, worldly temptations, and moral corruption.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Principal of Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran, Dr. Mumtaz-ul-Hasan Barvi, delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the distinguished guests and highlighting the institution’s educational and training activities.
Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that purification of the soul and self-reformation are, in fact, part of the Prophetic mission. He explained that the entire blessed life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ serves as a practical example of refining human character, adopting discipline, and worshipping Allah with sincerity and devotion.
He further stated that even great acts of worship such as the remembrance of Allah and prayer become truly beneficial only when the heart is purified from all forms of spiritual and moral impurities. He clarified that striving in the path of Allah with one’s life and wealth is regarded as the “lesser jihad” (Jihad al-Asghar), while struggling against one’s own desires and ego is considered the “greater jihad” (Jihad al-Akbar).
Addressing the students, he advised them to purify their hearts and minds from negative traits before pursuing knowledge, because only a pure heart can truly absorb the real effects of knowledge and transfer them into one’s soul and inner self.
He also paid tribute to the scholarly, intellectual, and research contributions of the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, stating that he devoted his entire life to the promotion of Islamic teachings, education, research, and authorship. He added that Shaykh-ul-Islam’s efforts have highlighted the golden principles of Islam and the Prophetic model as exemplary guidance for both the East and the West.
Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri urged young people to seek inspiration from the character and personality of Shaykh-ul-Islam and become a source of goodness and benefit for the Muslim Ummah.
On this occasion, Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran congratulated Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri on receiving the “Sign of Peace Award” from Italy and presented him with a commemorative shield.
