Prof Dr Hussain Mohi ud Din Qadri Meets Parliamentary Delegation

A delegation comprising minority ministers and members of provincial assemblies from Sindh, KP and Balochistan visited Minhaj University Lahore yesterday on a special invitation. Upon their arrival, Deputy Chairman Board of Governors Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Registrar Professor Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Suhail Ahmad Raza, Major (R) Salman Jahangir, Raja Zahid Mahmood, and Shehzad Ahmad Khan warmly welcomed the delegation.

The delegation included Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Anthony Naveed Sahotra, Sindh Minister for Minority Affairs Dr. Sham Sunder, Sindh Minister for Human Rights Rana Rajveer Singh Sodha, Sindh Assembly member Mahesh Kumar Haseeja, Krishan Sharma Pradhan of the Pakistan Hindu Mandir Parbandh Committee, J. Prakash Morani, بلوچستان Assembly members Sanjay Kumar and Ravi Kumar, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member Dr. Askar Pervaiz, along with Krishan Sharma.

Speaking during the visit, Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed Sahotra praised the various research centers and departments of Minhaj University Lahore and remarked that it was hard to believe such a remarkable university existed in Lahore. He said they were deeply impressed by the School of Peace established for interfaith harmony, where comparative religion is included in the curriculum.

He also praised the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, saying that he had always treated minorities with tolerance and respect, and that minorities had consistently been honored on the platform of Minhaj-ul-Quran.

Discussing the purpose of their Lahore visit, he said they wanted reforms in the 150-year-old laws concerning Christians. He added that these laws had originally been created under a colonial mindset to control subjugated populations, and that the time had now come to change them.

Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri briefed the delegation in detail about the university’s research centers and its academic, literary, and educational contributions toward interfaith harmony. He also presented copies of his latest book on interfaith tolerance to all members of the delegation.

He further stated that they were ready to assist in establishing a high-quality educational institution in Sindh similar to Minhaj University Lahore. He added that a major university project was already under development in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also offered that, if the Sindh government wished, Minhaj-ul-Quran could prepare a curriculum on peace and tolerance aligned with Sindh’s cultural values and traditions.
