On January 25, 2008 (Friday evening), Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) and Lahore Press Club jointly organized a grand Mahfil-e-Naat in the Nisar Usmani Hall of Lahore Press Club. Nazim-e-Ala Minhaj-ul-Quran International Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi and President Lahore Press Club Mohsin Gorraiya attended the event on special invitation. In addition to them, Director Media (MQI) Dr Shahid Mahmood, Secretary General PAT Anwar Akhtar Advocate, Director Foreign Affairs G. M. Malik, Amir-e-Punjab Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Allama Imdadullah Khan, Deputy Secretary General PAT Prof Sohail Ahmad Raza, Nazim Lahore Ghulam Rabbani Tamoor, management of Lahore Press club and people belonging to diverse walks of life participated in a large number.

The programme started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Qari Muhammad Farooq. Afterwards, the prominent Naat Khawans of the country (those who recite Naat) including Marghoob Ahmad Hamdani, Akhtar Hussain Qureshi, Muhammad Afzal Noshahi, Minhaj Naat Council, Shakeel Ahmad Tahir. Shahzad Hanif Madni, Abid Raoof Qadri, Syed Ausaf Ali Shah and Muhammad Rafique Zia recited Naat in the honour of the Holy Prophet (SAW). Dr Shahbih-ul-Hassan conducted the proceedings of the programme.

Addressing at the occasion, Nazim-e-Ala of Minhaj-ul-Quran International Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi said that the person of the Holy Prophet (SAW) was the pivot around which the faith of the Muslim Umma revolved. The secret of Umma's survival, security and progress lay in the fact that they referred their matters to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) for the solution for their problems. The same was the case of health of our faith for its strength and stability depended on our relationship with the person of the Prophet of Islam (SAW). If the Muslims established their relation of love with the Prophet, their faith would be perfected and their worship and prayers would acquire meaning and direction.

Referring to the conduct of the Companions, he said that they considered the personality of the Holy Prophet (SAW) the source of their faith and made earnest efforts to strengthen this relationship. For they knew, that the more their relationship was strengthened, the more powerful would be their state of Iman. They extended so much respect and deference to the Prophet that the opponents of Islam were led to say that the Muslim became invincible power. After observing the scene of love for the Prophet (SAW), Hazrat Urwa Bin Masood, who had not embraced Islam by then, told the non-believers bluntly,"I have seen the manners and etiquettes observed in the courts of great emperors and kings. But I swear by God I have not seen a king so venerated by his contemporaries as Muhammad (SAW) by his companions. Later on he advised the infidels not to attack the Muslims because he knew out of his experience as a diplomat that a nation, who would not let a drop of water fall from the hands of Muhammad (SAW) and, how it would allow falling of his blood on the ground!"

Dr Abbasi said if we solidified the relationship with the Holy Prophet (SAW), we could still become the unconquerable power of the world. It was the conspiracy of the anti-Islam forces to deprive the Muslims of their love for the Prophet (SAW) so that the Muslim nation was rendered into defeatist one. It highlighted even more the importance of reviving and igniting our love with the Holy Prophet (SAW) to get rid of these conspiracies and regain our lost ground.

Others, who spoke at the occasion, included President Lahore Press Club Mohsin Gorriya, Imdamullah Khan and Yaqoob Imran. All the Naat Khawans were presented shields at the conclusion of the programme.
