Karachi killings a blot on our national conscience: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founding leader of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, has said that the unending wave of target killing and violence in Karachi, which left around 100 people dead and dozens injured in a span of three days, proved that political interests were being preferred to the national ones. He said that Karachi being a financial hub of the country deserved a better treatment from the powers responsible to control the severe law and order situation. But alas, the rulers stayed mum while the entire city was subjected to mayhem for three days with virtually no government there to control the situation. In a statement issued from the Directorate of Media of MQI, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri highlighted the need of strict action to nip the evil doers in the bud. He said that the state needs to invest in improving its intelligence gathering processes and rapid response arrangements to cater to any challenge to law and order. He said that it was also time that those at the helm of affairs also called an All Parties Conference on Karachi to finalize a national strategy. He warned that demonstration of procrastination would further complicate the situation with lethal implications for the future.
