Irfan-ul-Quran
Easy to understand and authentic translation of the meaning of Holy Quran in Urdu by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, keeping in view the intellectual and spiritual need of the hour, started translating the Holy Quran into Urdu around 1990, to illuminate the Muslim world. Irfan-ul-Quran was the title he gave to his translation of the Sacred Quran. Because of lack of time he had been able to translate only 22 parts of the Holy Quran until a couple of months ago. It is a great blessing and bounty of Almighty Allah that he completed the translation of the Holy Quran in Canada during his forty day stay. Thus translation of the eight remaining parts of the Holy Quran took about forty days side by side his other missionary activities. Translation of the last chapter saw its completion on 20 July 2005 at 0320, the blessed timing of tahjjud.
On this sacred occasion a Jashn-e-Takmil-e-Irfan-ul-Quran (celebration on the completion of Irfan-ul-Quran) was organized under the auspices of Farid-e-Millat Research Institute (FMRi) at FMRi`s Suffa Hall on July 23, 2005. MQI`s top leadership and many others attended the programme.
Qari Muhammad Ejaz Husayn, Qari Muhammad Nadeem Akhtar and Qari Khalid Mahmood Saeedi recited the holy verses of the Quran in the programmme. Muhammad Afzal Nawshahi, Shakeel Ahmad Tahir, Shahzad Manzoor Baghdadi and Abdul Basit sang the praise of the Holy Prophet (saw).
Muhammad Farooq Rana, Deputy Director Research of FMRi, conducted the programme as stage-secretary. He also presented a brief history of the Institute since its inauguration which took place on 7 December 1987. He told that a staff of forty persons was at the institute, eight being women research scholars. 265 books have seen print - 223 in Urdu, 34 in English and 9 in Arabic. The publication of the books had been as a result of dedicated staff of FMRi. He thanked Almighty Allah for blessing the staff of the Institute for assisting the mujaddid (reformer of religion) of the century.
Director of FMRi and Nazim Tehqeeq-o-Tablighat of MQI, Dr Tahir Hameed Tanoli, welcomed the guests and threw light on the technical aspects of Irfan-ul-Quran. Comparing it with the existing translations of the Holy Quran, he said almost all the translators of the Holy Quran used notes to make the meaning of the Quran clear, while Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Qadri did without them or occasionally put parentheses in the translation.
Muhammad Ali Qadri, senior research scholar of FMRi, highlighted some aspects of the Irfan-ul-Quran as he has been assisting Dr Qadri in the proofreading all the parts of the Irfan-ul-Quran.
Muhammad Akram Qadri, calligrapher of FMRi, explained the calligraphy of Irfan-ul-Quran. The whole Arabic of Irfan-ul-Quran was cut from the Arabic text of the Holy Quran (published by Emporium Company) and pasted very diligently.
Ziaullah Nayyar, literary figure and senior research scholar at FMRi, recited a poem, appreciating the rare translation of the celebrated Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Qadri.
Shakh-ul-Hadith Muhammad Miraj-ul-Islam said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Qadri has responded the need of the hour. The translation observes all the aspects of Arabic grammar and the Urdu translation bears witness to the Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Qadri`s mastery in Urdu language and literature as well. These views he expressed in his thesis which he read out.
Sqdrn. Ldr. (r) Abdul Aziz, personal research assistant to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Qadri, stressed the need of studying "the translation", comprehending it and practising according to it. He asked the audiences to spread the translation by Dr Sahib in society by presenting it to their friends and dear and near ones.
Nazim-e-Ala of MQI, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, said the best translator is the one who is totally aware of the thinking and likes and dislikes of the author whose book he is translating. According to this rule, we see that the author of the Holy Quran is the Creator of the universe Who is best known to our Shaykh-ul-Islam. Every person knows the translator`s gnosis of Almighty Allah, which enables him to translate the meaning and the spirit of the Quran. As he possesses the rare gift of deep knowledge of the Creator, his translation is quite unique.
May Allah bless all of us with the comprehension of his last Message! And May He open our hearts to Ifran-ul-Quran so that we may study and comprehend it and out its upon it.
And the concluding words were followed by supplication and a good lunch.
