Minhaj-ul-Quran Welfare Women League

Reported by: Ghazala Hassan Qadri

The central Minhaj-ul-Qura’n Women League, Welfare Division, Lahore held their second annual Eid Package distribution.  On this occasion the Women League sisters distributed over 600 boxes of food to patients and their families at Jinnah Hospital, a local government hospital mainly used by the less fortunate.  Unlike Western hospitals, patients in Pakistan have to pay for all aspects of hospitalization, including bringing their own food on a daily basis so the Eid Packages provided by the sisters proved to be a great success and all patients and their families were much obliged.

Sister Bushra Riaz, Nazima Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League, Welfare Division organized the event and was assisted by all members of the central women league team: Farah Naz, Nazima MQ Women League, Shazia Butt, Nazima MQ Dawah Division, Javariyya Hassan, MQ Nazima Hijab House, Aliya Ilyaqat Nazima Office, Shazia Ghulam Qadir, Naib Nazima Tharbiyyah, Nadia Khalid, Naib Nazima Hijab House, Farath Chisti, Assistant Editor Duktrane Islam.

The sisters took particular care in the preparation of the food for the patients and personally over saw the cooking of the meals as well as packing the food themselves to save on further costs.

The D.M.S of Jinnah hospital Dr. Shaukat was very appreciative of the event and praised Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri’s work in the area of welfare in general and his services to the Muslim Ummah.

On the second day of Eid-ul-Idah the Women League distributed food to over 800 recipients in Ganga Ram hospital Lahore and then distributed over 1000 boxes in  Mayo Hospital.  All the staff, patients and their families were extremely grateful for the gifts and commented that this was the first time any organization had taken such a large scale interest in the welfare of the patients.

May Allah Ta’ala accept these humble efforts and provide the strength and barakah to continue in the future.
