Programme at Hounslow Mosque
Date: 4th March 2006
Venue: Hounslow Mosque
Speakers: Sr Khatijah Atkinson and Sr Alveena Salim
By the blessings of Almighty Allah (swt) and His beloved Rasool (saw) an Islamic programme was organised in Hounslow Mosque.
The programme rightfully commenced with a recitation from the holy Qur’an and a melodious recitation of the Qasidah Burdah Shareef (poem of the scarf).
Sr Alveena spoke about the importance of good manners and our relationship with non Muslims. She quoted many examples from the life of the Holy Prophet (saw) where He (saw) reacted with patience, tolerance and compassion even when He was attacked by the non Muslims. She pointed that we should be ambassadors of Islam and become walking, talking role models of Islam.
Sr Khatijah delivered a powerful speech based on the aftermath of the battle of Karbala. She described in detail the leadership and courage that Hadrat Zainab; daughter of Hadrat Fatima (ra) demonstrated when she stood up to the tyrant dictator Yazeed after the battle. She pointed out that the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (ra) was in actual fact the revival of Islam and that we should not let the deaths of the ahle bait be in vain.
Light refreshments were served at the end of the programme.
May Allah (swt) reward all those who went to great efforts in preparing, organising and participating in this programme. Ameen.
