Islamic economic system guarantees the eradication of poverty: Shaykh ul Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed a social event organized by Minhaj Welfare Foundation at Olympic Park, Sydney, Australia. He stated that wealth is a trust from Allah, and it is obligatory for the affluent to spend on the needy. He said charity is a religious duty, and denying help to orphans, the destitute, and the deserving is equivalent to denying faith.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that thinking about the betterment of humanity and helping the needy according to one's capacity is a virtuous act, which brings purity, sanctity, and closeness to Allah. Helping those in need is not a favor but their right. Allah commands that excess wealth should be given back; by granting you financial prosperity beyond your needs, Allah has made you a trustee, and you must spend from this wealth on those who have a right to it.

He further stated that Islam's economic system guarantees the eradication of poverty. Islam prohibits the concentration of wealth, hoarding, bribery, and usury, and instead, encourages trade, Zakat, charity, and donations. These acts bring abundance and blessings in sustenance.

Faisal Hussain thanked Shaykh-ul-Islam for attending the event and stated that it helped highlight the concept of public welfare in Islam and the religious responsibilities among the affluent. He added that charity fosters mutual respect and trust in society and promotes feelings of moderation and tolerance.
