Ramadan is the month of self-accountability: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri

Not repenting after committing a sin is a great misfortune and a sign of one’s downfall, says the MQI founder
Every sincere repentance made in Ramadan is accepted

Shaykh ul Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri

The founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, while addressing a training session via video link, stated that Ramadan is the month of self-accountability. He said that this blessed and beloved month of Allah is filled with countless blessings and provides opportunities for self-reformation and purification of the soul.

"Those who fail to take advantage of these opportunities are truly unfortunate," he opined.

He quoted the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as saying, "One who fails to seek forgiveness in Ramadan is truly unfortunate."

Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri emphasized that any repentance made with sincerity and a firm intention to avoid sin in the future is accepted during this holy month. He warned that if a person does not feel the urge to repent after committing a sin, it means that the ability to repent has been taken away—this is the path to destruction both in this world and the Hereafter.

The MQI founding leader urged young people, in particular, to focus on self-improvement and spiritual purification during Ramadan and not let these precious moments go to waste due to negligence.

He advised that a firm commitment should be made during Ramadan to never neglect the five daily prayers and to seek the company of those who inspire love for Allah and His Messenger (PBUH).

Dr. Qadri further stated that this worldly life is temporary. While participating in the race for material success is not wrong, one must not neglect spiritual development in the process, he said.
