Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s message on the advent of Ramadan
In his special message on the eve of Ramadan, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has congratulated the nation including oversees Pakistanis. He said that Ramadan is a blessed and holy month, which provides a rare opportunity to the faithful to enrich themselves with spiritual blessings. He said that the month also heralds a Divine Command for the believers to return to their Lord to enlighten themselves with His Mercy, Blessings, and Favours and that they would not be returned empty-handed.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it now depends on us whether we want to revive and strengthen our weakening bond with our Lord. He said that fast is a great blessing to understand and fathom the meaning of servitude. He said that on the one hand, fasting helps rein in one’s cardinal desires through hunger and thirst, on the other hand it also fosters an awakening to sympathize and share the sorrows and travails of the millions of down-trodden sections of society and do something practical to make them get rid of the worst poverty traps. He said that by making the payment of Zakat binding on those who have the resources and means, Allah Almighty has imparted a lesson of removing economic division. He said that the philosophy of Zakat would have to be understood in real essence to be able to get rid of poverty from the society.
Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that if one wishes, one can avail oneself of the golden opportunity in the holy month and attain internal purification and spiritual enlightenment. He said that fasting provides us with wherewithal to train ourselves along spiritual, moral and religious lines and discipline our life accordingly for the rest of eleven months. He said that no act can be more fruitful and effective than fasting to achieve the objective of establishing an egalitarian and welfare society.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that fasting is a kind of spiritual workshop that strengthens one’s soul and frees it from the shackles of cardinal desires, which is helpful in maintaining a strong relationship between a servant and his Lord in the rest of time period. He said that this month is a means to win nearness of Allah. He said that gift of Itikaf during the last ten days of the holy month is yet another source of winning Allah’s pleasure and strengthening one’s bond with Him.
