Revolution to be followed by ruthless accountability & elections: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
The worst Israeli brutality against unarmed, innocent Palestinians represents the height of their helplessness, insensitivity of the Muslim world and abdication of core responsibility by the United Nations. The OIC should play a meaningful role for the protection of Palestinians. Revolution will be followed by merciless accountability and elections, adding that only competent and honest people would be able to take part in elections. Elections will only be held after comprehensive change in the system. Polls will throw up such a leadership that the nation has not got in 67 years. Chaudhry brothers of PML-Q, Sahibzada Hamid Raza of Sunni Ittehad Council, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas of Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslameen and other parties are playing a significant role for revolution in the country. Twenty thousand federations of labourers have announced to join the caravan of revolution. Time is not far when the each drop of martyrs’ blood will be avenged and Qisas for the same would be taken.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these view while addressing thousands of workers of PAT from Sialkot and Narowal districts in the central secretariat the other day.
Dr Qadri said that our struggle was democratic, peaceful and thoroughly constitutional aimed at restoring the rights of the less privileged and downtrodden sections of society and raising their standard of living. He said that the rulers wanted to scare us by such devious tactics as money laundering charges, stating further that they probably thought that they would be able to hinder the march of democratic revolution through such measures. He said that our conscience was as pure as milk and as transparent as water. He added that we were not worried a bit even if hundreds of departments launched similar investigations.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that in fact the rulers were plagued by the worry of strict and ruthless accountability of their palaces spread of hundreds of acres and huge business empire after the revolution. He stated that ten-point revolutionary agenda would be put into practice in letter and spirit after the revolution. He said that every homeless would get a home, the jobless a job and access to free education and health facilities at the state expense.
Expressing his no confidence in the judicial tribunal probing the Model Town tragedy, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the rulers described killing 14 innocent civilians and injuring over 100 people with live bullets as democracy. He said that such a democracy needed to be condemned and cursed, adding that if eradication of unjust system was called as derailment of democracy, let such democracy be derailed sooner rather than later.
Throwing light on the helplessness of the judicial tribunal, Dr Qadri said that the Home Department of the Punjab Government asked the tribunal to fix responsibility for the Model Town carnage on June 20, adding that it changed the terms of reference of the one-man judicial commission seven days later through a notification restricting its mandating to determine circumstances that led to the tragedy. He said that tribunal was an eye-wash meant to hoodwink the masses and wait out the public pressure. He said that this reflected rulers’ inherent hypocrisy and double-standards. He said that the height of oppression was that FIR was registered against those wronged and massacred by the police. He said that the FIR lodged by the victims was not being registered despite passage of many days.
