Rulers using anti-terrorism courts for political purposes: Spokesperson PAT chief
A spokesperson of PAT chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the rulers have damaged the anti-terrorism courts irreparably by using them for political objectives. He said that the case in which proceedings of getting the PAT chief and others as proclaimed offenders are underway, three out of four people were not present in the country at that time. He said that Mian Shahbaz Sharif explained the reason of not including the name of Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri in the FIR and now the news of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri being involved in the case is doing the round.
The spokesperson said that PAT rejects the false and baseless cases registered on behalf of Police under the pressure of the Punjab government. Asking the rulers to come back to their senses, he said that instead of fighting the terrorists, they have taken on those who dared terrorists with full force by raising effective voice against them. He said that the people of Pakistan are waiting for start of the proceedings in a real terrorism case in connection with Model Town tragedy, adding what to speak of the start of proceedings, even fair and impartial investigation into the case has not been initiated despite passage of seven months.
The spokesperson said that Punjab government and killer police is using the floor of the court for character assassination of the PAT chief and other senior leaders, which the honorable court should take notice of. He said that the rulers of Punjab are not refraining from propaganda campaign against the PAT leadership, and the party condemned this attitude. He reiterated the resolve that PAT would not budge even an inch from its stated position of seeking justice for 14 martyrs and 85 injured of the Model Town tragedy and will keep waging a struggle till the killers go to gallows in accordance with law and justice system of the country. He said that the rulers are in error if they think that they would be able to get a clean chit in Model Town case the way they maneuvered one in PTI’s worker’s killing case in Faisalabad.
The spokesperson appealed to the honorable courts to dispense justice to the victims in Model Town instead of conducting hearing of false cases registered by police. He said that on the one hand, a campaign of getting PAT leaders declared as proclaimed offenders is being run under the banner of police and the government of Punjab is not ready to make report of judicial tribunal public on the other in which the killers have clearly been identified. The spokesperson said that the present rulers are promoting terrorism through their decisions and attitudes and their further stay in power is dangerous for the people and national solidarity.
