General Elections 2018 is our target: Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Addressing local body workers convention held under the banner of PAT Lahore, central leader Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri asked the candidates who took part in the LG polls to play the role of effective public opposition in their respective constituencies. He said that the PAT chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri staged sit-in and led a revolution march for restoration of rights of the poor, adding that the political journey of PAT will continue uninterruptedly till change in the current exploitative system. He asked the local leaders of the party to have their keen eyes on the performance of chairmen and deputy chairmen and bring their influence to bear upon them for resolution of people’s problems. He said that the union councils are the right place to start anti-corruption drive from.

The PAT candidates who took part in LG polls, presidents and secretary generals of various town chapters attended the convention in their large number. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Major (r) Muhammad Saeed, Arif Chaudhry, and Raja Zahid addressed the convention on the occasion.

Major (r) Muhammad Saeed delivered the welcome address in which he threw light on the performance of the PAT candidates in the LG polls and the factors which impacted adversely on their electoral showing. He also gave various suggestions for reorganization of the party and how it could be made more effective and functional. He paid rich tributes to the PAT candidates for contesting elections in inhospitable conditions against the might of the party in power.

Talking about the Model Town tragedy, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that how can anyone talk about buying the leaders of party, the conscience of whose workers the dirty rich rulers failed to buy despite repeated attempts? He said that the news of a deal were propagated for sinister purposes and those who indulged in such baseless mongering will face justice one day. He said that the ruling party indulged in fraudulent practices right from the start of election schedule to their conduct on the polling day. He said that the enemies of democracy would not have the facility to use state resources and departments in the next general elections and the people will be able to exercise their right to vote freely. He said that momentum built during the local body campaign should be converted into a permanent mass contact drive. He made it clear to the participants of the ceremony that the real target of the party is General Elections in 2018. Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the PAT is actively taking part in the second and third phases of LG polls.

PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the PAT is not the party of leaders but of workers. He said that the policies of the party are formulated with consultation of its workers, adding that the PAT is the only party whose workers can contact their leadership as and when they want. He said that the PAT leadership does not come from elite class. Rather it is representative of the masses and stands by them through thick and thin. He said that the PAT chairman Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri knows every worker who renders sacrifices and makes utmost efforts for the party by his name. He said that he would say with authenticity that those who have been in power for thirty years would not be remembering the names of their MNAs and MPAs what to speak of workers and their cabinet ministers have to wait for many weeks to meet them. He said that we would make PAT the largest party of the country with the support of the masses.
