Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri completes his PhD thesis from Arab League University
Sahibzada Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, President of MQI’s Supreme Council and elder son of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, has completed his PhD from Arab League University. His viva voce was conducted on November 3, 2012.
The subject of his thesis was “Constitution of Medina and Modern Constitutional Principles (A Comparative and Analytical Study).” The thesis was written in Arabic language and covers around 800 pages.
Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri completed his thesis under the supervision of renowned Egyptian constitutional expert and former deputy Prime Minister Dr Yahya al-Jamal who is currently Professor in Law Department of Cairo University.
Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has explored in his thesis that four kinds of studies are found with reference to Islamic system of state and Constitution of Medina.
- Political heritage of Islam in which salient features, characteristics and
attributes of state system, judicial system, legislative system, and executive system
have been described.
- Principles of politics during the Holy Prophet’s time: The existing research
has explored general principles of politics during the times of the Holy Prophet
(pbuh). However, those principles have not been analysed critically in the background
of the constitution of Medina.
- Islamic Political Thought: The available studies do undertake comparison between
Islamic political thought and philosophy and modern political thought. However,
both modern and ancient research fails to establish the importance of the constitution
of Medina.
- Though orientalists have undertaken research on the constitution of Medina, either their research is characterized by biases or is insufficient to do justice.
Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has dwelled in detail on various aspects of Medina Pact in his research by employing the tools of comparison, contrast, analysis and interpretation. He has quoted authentic references and established the authenticity and efficacy of contents of the Constitution. Drawing a comparison with the American and British Constitutions, he has established that only the Constitution of Medina fulfils all the constitutional requirements. He has proven that by acting upon this Pact, the Muslims can form an egalitarian and welfare society.
Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s thesis is a unique one of its kind, which has been appreciated by the external professors and scholars who conducted viva voce. They termed it as a milestone in the field of research undertaken so far on the constitution of Medina. This explains why his thesis has won such high grades, which is unprecedented.
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri especially attended the viva ceremony and congratulated Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri on this outstanding achievement.
Meanwhile, Sahibzada Faiz-ur-Rahman Durrani, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, G M Malik, Rana Muhammad Idrees Qadri, and other leaders of MQI have congratulated Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri on getting this success with flying colours. Research scholars of FMRi Shaykh Abdul Aziz Dabbagh, Prof Muhammad Nasrullah Muini, Muhammad Farooq Rana, Dr Faiz Ullah Baghdadi, and Muhammad Afzal Qadri have also congratulated Sahibzada Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri.
