Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri's visit to Norway 2025
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman Supreme Council, Minhaj-ul-Quran International, (hereinafter to be referred to as Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri), visited Norway from Thursday, January 16th, to Sunday, January 19th. Their visit was a source of immense joy and inspiration for the Minhaj-ul-Quran International Norway community, marked by a series of impactful and historical events and engagements that strengthened the organization’s mission and brought the community together. Below is an overview of the significant highlights from their visit.
Thursday, January 16th: Arrival in Oslo, Norway
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri arrived in Oslo, Norway to a warm and heartfelt welcome by the board members, volunteers, and dedicated contributors of MQI Europe and MQI Norway. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and gratitude as the community looked forward to spending a meaningful weekend in their esteemed company. The weekend promised several key events, including the highly anticipated book launch on Friday and a unique workers convention on Saturday. These activities were designed to educate, inspire, and unite the community, setting the tone for a memorable visit.
Friday, January 17th: Jumu'ah Prayer, Office Inauguration and Book Launch
Jumu'ah Prayer:
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri attended the Jumu'ah prayer at the MQI Oslo center, where he was greeted warmly by officials and volunteers. Also present was Dr. Hamza Ansari, who accompanied Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri throughout their visit. The Jumu'ah prayer served as a spiritual gathering for the community, allowing attendees to engage in reflection and worship under Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s esteemed presence.
Office Inauguration:
Following the Jumu'ah prayer, the newly renovated conference room and headquarters at Minhaj-ul-Quran Oslo were formally inaugurated. Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and Dr. Hamza Ansari led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter for MQI Norway. Volunteers and members had the opportunity to meet and interact with Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri during this special occasion, making it a memorable start to the weekend’s events.
Book Launch: The Constitution of Medina and the Concept of Welfare State
The highlight of the day was the formal launch of Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s groundbreaking book, The Constitution of Medina and the Concept of Welfare State, held at Engel Paradis in Oslo. The event attracted over 450 participants, including representatives from the wider community, institutions, mosques, ambassadors, politicians, and leaders from MQI Europe and Norway.
The program commenced with a beautiful Quranic recitation by Qari Syed Farid Akbari, followed by a soul-stirring nasheed performance by the renowned artist Milad Raza Qadri. Awais Ejaz Ahmed, president of MQI Norway, welcomed the attendees, while Sami Ullah, a prominent MQI Norway contributor, served as the stage secretary.
Prominent guest speakers included Asif Hameed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Norway (conular), Masoom Zubair, Head of the Islamic Council Norway (IRN), Syed Nehmat Ali Shah Bukhari, Imam of Central Jamaat-e-Ahle-Sunnat (mosque), Sammia Naz, Politician, Khalid Mahmood, Politician and Alllama Muhammad Iqbal Fani, Imam of MQI Norway
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri delivered the keynote address, offering profound insights into the book’s themes. They emphasized that the Misak-e-Madina (Constitution of Medina), established by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, was the world’s first and shortest written constitution, predating the Magna Carta by six centuries. They elaborated on the document’s 75 constitutional principles, derived from extensive research, which form the foundation of modern governance systems, including power distribution, human rights, religious freedom, and equality.
The evening concluded with a renewed appreciation for the Medina Charter’s relevance and its exemplary principles, leaving the audience deeply inspired by Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri’s scholarship and vision.
Saturday, January 18th: Workers Convention and Community Engagement
Brunch with the Rabita Committee:
The day began with a warm brunch hosted by the Rabita Committee, attended by key MQI officeholders. The Rabita Committee has been instrumental in fieldwork and outreach efforts. During the gathering, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri acknowledged their contributions, commended their dedication, and offered invaluable guidance for future endeavors.

NEC Meeting:
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri presided over a meeting with the National Executive Council (NEC) of MQI Norway. Accompanied by Mrs. Basima Hassan Qadri and Dr. Hamza Ansari, all of our honrable guest engaged in a detailed discussion on MQI Norway’s ongoing projects and strategic plans. Their insights and recommendations provided a clear direction for organizational development and inspired the NEC members to intensify their efforts toward MQI’s vision and goals. Awais Ejaz Ahmed, president, MQI Norway was also excited to welcome MEC, who participated and was engaged in the meeting.
Workers Convention:
The evening featured a grand Workers Convention at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Oslo center, attended by over 300 participants. Alllama Muhammad Iqbal Fani, Imam of MQI Norway, led the program, which began with a Quranic recitation by Abdullah Khan from Minhaj Youth Oslo and a captivating nasheed performance by Milad Raza Qadri.
The convention’s highlight was an in-depth and inspirational interview with Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, conducted by Qaiser Mahmood. The discussion offered attendees a rare glimpse into their personal and professional life, from their upbringing as the son of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri to their experiences in Egypt and Syria and their journey as a leader.
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri emphasized the significance of time management, the transformative role of Minhaj-ul-Quran in individual and community development, and the importance of embodying Islamic values. They also addressed strategies for overcoming life’s challenges with patience, faith, and determination. The session left attendees deeply inspired and motivated to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
During the Workers Convention, Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri presented the 2024 Excellence Awards to several outstanding contributors:
- Rashid Ali Awan: For exceptional efforts in membership and nikah services in Minhaj-ul-Quran Norway.
- Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed, president, Rabita Committee: This Award was awarded to the Rabita Committee for their remarkable contributions to membership care.
- Qaiser Mahmood and Faiz Alam: For their dedication to documenting MQI Norway’s history through extensive interviews of 15 of our seniors.
- Arfan Gull Ansari, president, MQI Oslo: Minhaj-ul-Quran Oslo was awarded for providing essential facilities and support for community activities for LEC and NEC.
- Asif Javed, president, MQI Kløfta: Minhaj-ul-Quran Kløfta received recognition for their pivotal role in initiating structured children’s education program, establishing regular Jumu’ah prayers with significant participation, and organizing diverse activities that cater specifically to women.
- Shafique Siddique, president, MQI Drammen: For outstanding dedication and commitment throughout the year. Minhaj-ul-Quran Drammen has established an exceptional educational program for children and youth. We deeply appreciate their tireless efforts and contributions to fostering positive change in the community.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Awais Ejaz Ahmed, president, MQI Norway, a recitation of Salaam by Qari Ansar Ali, that left a memorable sense of unity among participants.
Sunday, January 19: Departure to Sweden Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri departed for Sweden on Sunday, January 19, to continue their European tour. Their visit to Norway left an indredible mark on the MQI community, reinforcing their commitment to their shared mission and providing invaluable guidance for the future.
