Peace seminar pays homage to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri
Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) organized international peace seminar in the Holiday Inn hotel in Islamabad at the occasion of the 58th birthday of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Syed Murtaza Fasool, Cultural Counselor of Islamic Republic of Iran, presided over the seminar, whereas Secretary General of MQI, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, was the guest of honour at the occasion. The proceedings of the programme got under way with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Qari Dr Siraj Ahmad who highlighted the Quranic concept of peace through recitation of the Quranic Verses. Ibrar Raza Advocate recited the Naat.
Prof Aftab, Professor of International Islamic University, conducted the proceedings of the programme. Speaking on the services of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for the establishment of global peace, prominent writer, journalist and columnist, Sahibzada Muhammad Umer Riaz Abbasi, said that the Holy Prophet (saw) presented his matchless and unique character and 40-year life as a proof before the humanity at the time of his invitation to the people. He enlightened the dark Arab world with light of knowledge and awareness and put in place such a system in the form of state of Madina which was based on such beautiful foundations as social & economic justice, equality, brotherhood, Madina Pact, a new model of human rights both for Muslims and non-Muslims. He (saw) introduced such a system of justice which gave equal rights to all and sundry without any discrimination of caste, creed, colour, race and religion.
He said that the establishment of State of Madia symbolized the beginning, whereas the epoch of Karbala provided it ideological continuity. He said the Pakistani state also came into being as a result of migration on the pattern of State of Madina but it was unfortunate that the country was caught in a number of crises with no signs of political stability. Umer Riaz Abbasi said that Muslims, not Islam, were in danger today as they had deviated from the spirit of religion. He said Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was playing important role in spreading the real message of Islam around the globe. His services for the cause of peace and integration were pronounced and it was apt to call him Ambassador of Peace.
He said that Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri had introduced the youth to the real teachings of Islam by quenching their intellectual, scholarly, scientific and moral thirst. His 1000 books and more than 5000 lectures on multiple topics constituted the best way of serving the cause of religion and global peace. He said that teachings of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri were beacon of light in these dark times bearing the status of certified charter for the establishment of peace. He said that it was important for the nation to wake up from slumber and heed the clarion calls of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
Iranian Cultural Counselor, Syed Murtaza, paid rich tribute to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for his services in multiple disciplines and fields. He said that intellectual and scholarly contributions of Shaykh-ul-Islam were a great treasure of knowledge for the Islamic Umma. He said Dr Qadri’s services for peace were like rain of mercy. Renowned intellectual Dr Tabassum Jaffery said in his speech that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was the torch-bearer of peace and was on his way to Karbala by starting his journey from Madina. He was playing his role by lighting up the lamps of peace and knowledge.
Leader of Tehreek-i-Insaaf, Fiaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, said in his talk that acting upon the Hussaini way of life, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri preferred the promotion of knowledge and mysticism by rejecting power. Syed Muzummal Hussain, researcher of Islamic University, said that Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri had revived the love for the Holy Prophet (saw) in the hearts of youth. He said that Dr Qadri was a lawyer who was pleading the case of this great religion with arguments and rationality before West.
Central leader of MQI, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, said in his talk that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri used spiritualism instead of violence and love instead of hatred to promote the feelings of moderation and harmony in the society. He used arguments, research and rationality as his weapons to prove relevance of Islamic system to the contemporary world.
Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Secretary General of MQI and guest of honour, said in his speech that Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was an epoch-making personality whose scholarly contributions were recognized and lauded across the world. That is why the world prided itself in calling him ‘Shaykh-ul-Islam’. He said that the world could benefit from the vision and teachings of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for establishment of global peace. Dr Qadri talked of love, brotherhood by highlighting mystic aspects of Islam. He said that there was dire need of the fact that terrorism and extremism be eliminated by projecting Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s concept of peace.
Journalist Umer Riaz Abbasi presented a resolution aimed at condemning the murder of reporter of Geo News and The News, Mausa Khan, in Swat. The resolution dubbed it as ‘murder of journalism’ and gave title of martyr of peace to Mausa Khan. It also demanded of the government to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice at the earliest. Dua was offered for the departed souls of Pir Naseer-ud-Din Naseer, Mausa Khan and Allama Iftikhar Habibi. Host of seminar, Sardar Mansoor, presented the vote of thanks at the end.
