Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri condemns attack on the shrine of Baba Farid-ud-Din Ganj-e-Shakar (R.A)

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has condemned the terrorist strike at the revered shrine of Sufi-saint Baba Farid-ud-Din Ganj-e-Shakar (R.A) in Pakpattan. The terrorist attack, which took place early in the morning of Monday after Fajr prayers, killed six people including women besides injuring scores of others. Shaykh-ul-Islam termed the attack as a cowardly act, which showed the desperation of the terrorists. He said that the shrines of the Sufis are the hub of peace and welfare centers for the suffering humanity. Attack on these places, he added, is a failed attempt which cannot stop the message of love and peace from spreading. He said that the recourse to the teachings of the Sufis is the only way by which the battle against the ideas of extremism and terrorism can be won.

Noting that the attack on the revered shrine of Baba Farid-ud-Din Ganj-e-Shakar (R.A) comes in a row after suicide bombings on the shrines of Data Sahib and Abdullah Shah Ghazi, he said that the government has failed to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of these crimes and it has emboldened the terrorists to undertake more strikes on shrines of the Sufis. He warned the government that continuation of these attacks would ignite the sectarian fires which would be unfortunate. Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in peace and give patience to their respective families to bear the loss of their near and dear ones.

Meanwhile, Sahibzada Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Sahibzada Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi and Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz have also expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in the attack. They asked the government to speed up efforts for formulation of effective anti-terror policy.
