Hajj scam a blot on our national face: President PAT
Central President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, has said that judiciary and media are two important pillars of the state and both these institutions are playing their due role in taking the country forward. Media, he said, was playing a leading role and guiding the nation in a situation of multiple crises. He said that legislation was the function of parliament as per public aspirations but his important duty was being neglected to the detriment of the nation. Parliament is safeguarding the interests of its members and ministers instead of protecting the public interest. The practice of not implementing the court’s decisions, he said, continues unabated with the result that the cause of democracy is getting undermined.
Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani expressed these views while talking to a lawyers’ wing of Pakistan Awami Tehreek from Faisalabad, who called on him in his office today. He said that massive Hajj corruption has served to taint Pakistan’s image globally. The cosmetic step of sending some people home is not the solution of deep problems that afflict our body politic. He demanded that those involved in the scandal should be brought to face law and meted out strict punishment. “These people who played fraud with guests of Allah need no concession of any sort and the eyes of people are pinned on the superior judiciary,” he maintained. PAT President also lambasted the government’s decision of suspending gas supply dubbing it as economic murder of hundreds of families of workers and laborers.
