Mass Marriage ceremony under Minhaj Welfare Foundation tomorrow

Islam is a complete code of life, which has given privileged status to women as a daughter, wife, sister and mother. But unfortunately, a woman does not enjoy the status given by the religion. She is being degraded in a craze to bring her at par with men by the so-called progressive forces and she is also a victim of a number of anti-Islamic and retrogressive traditions such as Vanni, karo kari and the marriage with the Holy Quran. When girls reach marriageable age, most of the parents cannot marry their daughters off due to the high cost of marriages and demands of dowry. True to its traditions, Minhaj Welfare Foundation is all set to arrange a collective marriage of 26 girls belonging to the less privileged families in Township tomorrow.

Iftikhar Shah Bokhari, Director of Minhaj Welfare Foundation, expressed these views while talking to the heads of various administrative committees. Mian Tahir Youqub and Mian Zahid Islam were also present on the occasion. He said that the bridal gift handed over to each bride would cost Rs. 1,25,000 in addition to marriage feast for the guests. He said that Sahibzada Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani would preside over the ceremony while prominent notables such as Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi, Dr Abid Aziz, federal and provincial ministers, welfare organizations activists would attend the ceremony. He added that arrangements for the collective marriages have been completed. Two Christian couples are also part of the ceremony.
