PAT welcomes Army’s offer to restore peace in Karachi
The government has miserably failed in stemming the tide of target killing and lawlessness in Karachi. Not even a single day passes without blood being shed and dead bodies turning up every now and then. The statement of the Army chief to help restore peace in the financial capital of Pakistan is welcome. The higher judiciary should take a suo moto notice of the fast deteriorating situation and order the army to bring the metropolis back to normalcy.
These views were expressed by Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani, President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, in a statement here in Lahore. The PAT President said that a government whose existence in power is owed to the political props and who has surrendered its fundamental duty of maintaining law and order to political expediency cannot act against the terrorists and miscreants. He said that the situation calls for thorough deliberations and formulation of holistic policy to deal with the crisis.
