Bayt-ul-Hikmah annual results and award ceremony 2011

A beautiful annual ceremony for Bayt-ul-Hikmah (House of Wisdom) classes was organized in which the annual results were announced for the students on July 24, 2011. The students attended the classes throughout the year, every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Bayt-ul-Hikmah classes are held on a semester basis, in which each semester consists of three months. We have almost 150 students for Bayt-ul-Hikmah and it is pertinent to mention that these classes are the longest running classes in MQI London.

The prize distribution ceremony started under the supervision of Allama Abdul Basit Al-Azhari who performed the duty of stage secretary along with his young trained student Hamayun Farooq. While performing the duties of the stage secretary, Abdul Basit highlighted the importance of the child’s training at home and outlined the opportunity that Minhaj-ul-Quran offers youngsters to practically get involved in working for promotion of peace, interfaith harmony and integration, the essential message of Islam.

The proceedings of the ceremony got underway with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Saad Farooq and translation by Ata-ul-Mustafa Sethi. Hafiz Asim Shabbir (the first student to complete his Hifz at MQI London) also recited a beautiful recitation and left the audience raising their appreciation with Praises such as Subhan Allah and Masha’Allah.

Following the recitations of the Holy Qur’an, Naats were recited by Tayyibah Shabbir, Haseeb Raza and Ayesh Azam. The emotional naats grabbed the attention of all the parents and audience present in the hall.

This was followed by the speech by Ahmed Raza, a natural talent, who prepared his speech himself without any help. It was a beautiful talk and he was shown much appreciation.

The main event of the prize distribution ceremony was the quiz competition. The quiz competition was prepared under the guidance of Allama Sadiq Qureshi Al-Azhari, Principal, Bayt-ul-Hikmah and the questions were related to the month of Ramadan. (Allama Sadiq Qureshi couldn’t himself participate in the ceremony as he had gone to Spain to teach an Islamic Studies course). The quiz was a wonderful idea and a beautiful competition took place which was full of knowledge for all the parents and audience. The competition was between two teams, one from the boys’ side and one from the girls’ side, with various age categories. Each team had forty questions and it was a very tough competition. The girls' team won by half a mark! It was a fantastic result and close competition.

Then the time arrived for which all parents, students and teachers had been anxiously waiting for- the announcement of the Annual Examination Result 2011. The tension was rising as Ms Nasra, Coordinator of Bayt-ul-Hikmah classes, held the result card. The beautiful trophies were displayed on the table. She began by announcing the results of the students in different classes / age groups.

Under the guidance of Allama Sadiq Qureshi Al Azhari and the rest of the teachers from bayt-ul-hikmah, it was decided that from this year a big trophy will be given to the best student of the year. After consultation amongst the teachers, it was decided that the award for 2011 should be presented to Shiraz Imran who also got top marks in his exam. Attendance, punctuality and behaviour was also taken into consideration while deciding his nomination.

A special mention and thanks is also due to the teachers who have taught voluntarily for many years including Allama Sadiq Qureshi, Sister Nasra, Hafiz Zeeshan, Sister Tayyiba, Usman Al-Azhari, Abdul Basit, Mrs Faiza Qadri, Sister Tanzila, Sister Fozia, and Sister Sana.
