Itikaf 2012 gets underway
Itikaf City has been set up under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. 18,000 men and women have joined Itikaf for whom separate arrangements have been made. Unlike the practice of previous years, the Itikaf City has not been exempted from load-shedding this year. Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri would begin his series of lectures on spiritualism after Fajr prayers on the 21st of Ramadan onwards. The residents of Itikaf City started arrived at the venue from 9 a.m. while those belonging to far off areas such as AJ&K, Balochistan, Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan had reached one day ago.
Stringent security measures have been put in place. In addition to the official security, more than 2000 youths of MYL and MSM would also perform the security duties. Excellent arrangements for supply of food at Sehri and Iftari have been made, while vast arrangements are also in place for ablution and cleanliness. The entire City has been divided into different blocks. A large number of pedestal fans have also been installed keeping in view the hot season. A central coordination room has also been established for the purpose of coordination among 60 administrative committees. 3 Ambulances of Minhaj Welfare Foundation have been detailed while teams of qualified doctors would perform their duties in three shifts.
